Every journey starts with a single step and this weekend 9 İzmir SEV grade 6 students started their JMUN journey by going to their first ever conference at EKİN College. The students have been working hard to prepare for the conference by learning about JMUN procedure and researching their assigned topics and countries. The general topic for this conference was, “Global Inequalities” and the students used their research to come up with creative solutions to problems that the world faces today. The SEV JMUN team had an opportunity to meet students from many different schools and work together to create solutions to world problems. The students used their writing skills to create resolutions then worked hard to debate and defend their ideas using the skills that they have been working on this term during the club hour. The students worked hard for three days but when the closing ceremony came the students felt more confident in their ability to think of creative solutions to world issues as well as their ability to clearly articulate and defend their ideas in a public forum. With their first conference complete the students can’t wait to polish their skills and continue their JMUN journey at the next conference.
