Our 8th grade student, Ege Özdemir, earned a Notable Submission Award in the 2018 Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Contest Film Category. The Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Student Contest is open to students aged 11 to 18, worldwide. The work is meant to explore the relationship between human systems, climate change, and our oceans. The students are asked to create a piece in art, film, music, prose, or poetry that not only presents issues and challenges, but also communicates a message that inspires others to act. Following the guidance of his instructor Mr. Shawn J. Ward, Ege completed his video project https://youtu.be/NGUfoUlPONs on climate change and its effects on marine life. According to Bow Seat, his submission was impressive and stood out from the nearly 1,000 Junior Division entries they received from around the world. On behalf of our school, congratulations once again to Ege! We are so honored to work with young creators like him – his talent and compassion give us hope for the future of our blue planet! Many thanks to Mr. Ward for inspiring his students.
