229 Dog Sled Race Poster Project After reading the novel Stone Fox, which is about a boy who enters a dog sled race, students were asked to choose a famous dog sled race and research the race. After they completed their research, they created posters about their chosen race. They were asked to include information about entry fees, rules of the race, the length and route of the race, the location, the weather conditions, prizes for the winning teams, and any other interesting facts. Cory Kempling Neal Cooke Beril KOÇ We did a dog sled project. I liked this project because I had never done a project about a dog sled race before. I didn’t know anything about dog sledding before Miss Cory assigned this project. I really liked this project and it was so interesting. Volkan ALTINDAĞ After we finished reading the book Stone Fox in our Language Arts lesson, we created a poster that was an advert for a big event. It was about a sled race with dogs in different countries. For example, I chose Finnmarksløpet in Norway. We had to show the route, length, give the prices, the entry requirements, the rules for the race, five interesting facts and give a brief description of it. Our teacher wanted us to make a poster about a race of our choice. It could have been in our iPads or on paper; I chose the iPad. It was a really interesting experience. I have learned a lot about dog sled races and Finnmark in Norway. It was surprising that the race was so long you can go to another city with that long of a distance. Another thing that surprised me was that kids like me of the same age can ride and race in a 200-kilometer route, which was very interesting.
