22 Emre ERSİN Hello, my name is Emre. This year I’ve joined the JMUN Club. It was a great experience. I’ve joined JMUN because we did a mini JMUN in our 5th grade Language Arts lesson. I like to learn about different countries, so I thought it would be the best club to join. All students who wanted to join the club had to pass an exam. I was able to pass the exam with 13 other students. I expected something like the mini JMUN that we did in our Language Arts class, but it was a little different. Actually, to be honest JMUN was way difficult than the mini JMUN. In fact, we had to stay after school to finish our research and our resolution papers. However, it was a great experience and I learned so much. Writing a resolution or a position paper was a big challenge for me because writing in a formal way was difficult. Also we have to start clauses in resolutions with some specific words like: Acknowledging, Reminding, Bearing in mind, Recognizing, Invites, Trusts… Besides, you have to create solutions to the problems that even UN can’t solve. We have been to 3 conferences. One of them was EKIN JMUN the other one was TARSUS SEV JMUN and the last one was TAJMUN. All of the conferences were a great experience and so much fun. I recommend every 6th and 7th grader to join this club and have a great JMUN experience! Talya DEDEKÖYLÜ My name is Talya. I’m a 6th grader. I was a JMUN admin last year. This year was my first year in the JMUN team. I thought that conferences would be hard and challenging. They weren’t hard, but they were very challenging. I have been to two conferences, they were EKIN JMUN and Tarsus SEV JMUN. EKIN JMUN was Harvard style and Tarsus SEV was THIMUN. At first I was really shy, but then I got used to it. I will tell you about my first JMUN conference. It was EKIN JMUN. I was so nervous in the beginning! Ekin JMUN was Harvard style. My country was Venezuela and my committee was WHO (World Health Organizations). We debated and wrote resolution papers with our partners and shared ideas. It was an amazing experience! My second conference was Tarsus SEV. It wasn’t Harvard style, it was THIMUN. We really enjoyed our trip to Tarsus and our conference at Tarsus SEV. It was also challenging like EKIN JMUN but it was an easier conference because I learnt the basics and I got used to JMUN in EKIN. I wasn’t as worried as I was in EKIN JMUN. Both of my conferences were fantastic. Naz GÜVEN My name is Naz and I am in sixth grade. I joined JMUN this year. Actually I joined JMUN only to improve my English. I learned that I was mistaken because when we were preparing for our first conference, we talked about world problems and we tried to find solutions. I loved learning about world problem and trying to solve them but sometimes I had problems with vocabulary as it was really advanced. I learned a lot of things thanks to JMUN and I am still learning! I’ve already been to two conferences and they were great experiences for me. In my first JMUN conference, I did not speak a lot. I felt that I did not belong there. I was terrified. In my second conference, I felt more comfortable and I spoke more than my first conference. In each conference, there was a party after sessions and we liked the parties a lot. We danced with music. It was amazing. As I told you earlier, JMUN did not only improve my English, but also taught me a lot about recent events and also I had really good time with my friends! I will definitely join JMUN next year again!
