267 Grade 7 CE Spooky Story Project Spooky Story: After learning the nuances of spooky story writing, our 7th Graders wrote and illustrated their own spooky stories. They tried to use different techniques to mimic some of the many famous authors. Shawn J. Ward Sırma Göknur Eda ÇINAR Hello, my name is Eda and I’m a 7th grader. This year in Core English we wrote spooky stories. We began writing our drafts halfway through October. We finished our projects on Halloween. It was fun writing these stories because we were able to use our imagination. We also drew pictures. When our projects finished the products we produced were amazing. Personally, I got inspired from a book that I read. My story was about two sisters who got killed by their parents. Their bodies were never found but one day the police got a call from them. The question here is did they die or did they survive? Berin MENDERES This year in Core English class we did a project called Spooky Story. The goal of this project was to be able to write a whole story with a beginning, middle, and end. In this project we were asked to write a spooky or scary story. This story needed to have four or more paragraphs. After writing the story in our notebook when everything was correct (the grammar, punctuation, spelling, and vocabulary), we wrote it on a poster. This poster had a drawing that relates to your story. Lastly, we recorded ourselves reading the story to the very end. My story wasn’t perfect in the beginning but when I rewrote it twice, it was better. My story was about a doll and three sisters. I don’t want to give any spoilers so I won’t say more. I didn’t really learn anything new but I realized that my punctuation was not good. This gave me an opportunity to improve myself and correct my mistakes. While writing the story and checking it, I practiced my grammar. Now I write my stories carefully and I am happy about that because knowing that you have improved is a thing that gives you lifelong joy and happiness. I believe that there is a big development between my first try and my last try. You know what, I was wrong before, I did learn something, maybe not new but I remembered and realized how important it is. The more you try, the more everything gets better. This project was one of the most enjoyable projects. The best part was to make the poster because we could share our creativity in any way we wanted. In conclusion, I had fun, practiced my English, realized my weaknesses and remembered something important all in just one project. For me it means I really liked this!
