29 Elis KORKUTER WSC was a really good experience, I got to meet with new people and write about my own ideas. I think every single child in the world needs to have this experience. WSC educates and teaches children in a fun way. I think the most difficult part was the collaborative writing because they challenged us to give our own opinion on important topics in writing. For me the easiest part was the debate because I felt really comfortable when I was with my teammates who can give me some advice while I was preparing for the debate. When we won, my teammates and I were really happy and also excited. I’m really excited to go to the global rounds. I hope that we can win at that round too. :) İpek ALTUNYURT In the World Scholars Cup, I have experienced and learned so many different things and had so much fun. Before the tournament, I was really confused and nervous. I didn’t even know what the tasks were. Working with those amazing teachers made me feel more confident in a short period of time. I felt like they understood what I had trouble with and how to help me. They gave me advice and it helped me to improve a lot. We debated a lot because mainly this club is about debating. We also did interesting activities and practiced to remain calm while talking in front of people. The tournament was exciting. We met awesome people like Dylan. We adopted some alpacas. Basically we had a lot of fun and gained many new experiences. My teammates and I are so excited for the Global Round. We will study hard to prepare for it. I hope we’ll do well and get the chance to go to The Yale University. Mira ŞAR It was very exciting. At first we were really stressed about the debates. Then, we had our first debate and it was amazing. I was shaking at the beginning of my speech, but later I got used to it and I actually started to enjoy the experience. One of the most important things is how you collaborate with your teammates. Having a team is a lot better than being alone because you can get help from each other and your teammates are really supportive. At the end of the 3 debates, I was sad that it had finished. The writing was really fun too because I got a chance to fully express my thoughts and feelings on paper. One of the most amazing things about WSC is that it doesn’t force you to think one way or the other. The more creative you are, the better. The test was hard, but it helped us to push ourselves to our full potential. The scholars challenge is probably the most stressful but also the most fun part. On one question, you want to hug your teammates and then at another question you get so frustrated with them. The alpacas we get are so sweet. The award ceremony was good because everybody gets a medal. Everybody deserves to be appreciated and WSC realizes that. Eda ÇINAR In WSC we are all different and sometimes we are judged by our differences, but WSC, is a place where you can be yourself without fear from being judged. At the Izmir round, my team and I had a lot of fun being ourselves and competing. There and in club we learned so much. Most importantly, we learned how to be better speakers. The curriculum we studied was hard, but it was fun and rewarding at the same time. I would suggest this club to anyone who likes learning new things and being themselves. Doğa BELET We had so much fun in our WSC club. Some of us learned new words, some have made new friends. Here we were debating with 3 different topics. In the end I won 5 medals, got a chance to watch the talent show, and got my own alpacas. We made promises to our alpacas to always take care of them. We all had a lot of fun.
