S E V E C E N 2 0 2 0  165 Leya SÖZEN In our Core English lesson we did a project for the Atat rk Commemoration day. First, we chose a quote by Atat rk. Everyone chose a different quote. I chose the quote “Peace at home, peace in the world”. Next, we chose a picture of Atat rk to go along with the quote. Some were colourful and some were black and white. I chose a large, colourful one. We stuck the photo on the poster and then we wrote the quote. We decorated the poster and Mr. Cooke put our posters on the wall in the lobby. I think they look beautiful there. Çağla ANADOL This year for the Commemoration of Atat rk, we chose to make a poster about our feelings on 10th November. We used brainstorming to organize our ideas and then selected the picture of Atat rk . There were groups of two people who shared one poster each. We all had a great time doing this project and it was also emotional for us to look at Atat rk’s wise words in English. It was a project for one lesson but the time was enough for us. Our posters are now hanging proudly on the wall downstairs for any visitors to see when they arrive. Jeff HULLI Hi! My name is Jeff Hulli. Now, I’d like to tell you about the 10th of November, the Commemoration of Atat rk day. That day was so emotional for me, my friends and teachers. As I was the secretary of the student council, I took an active role in the events. In our Core English lesson we chose a quote of Atat rk and made a poster. I thought we had to do something amazing for our great leader so I worked really hard. My friend Ege and I did a great job. We prepared a poster, decorated it with pictures and even wrote a letter to Atat rk. I felt very emotional, grateful and a little sad while writing the letter. After our projects were completed, we decorated our classroom with our posters. Neal Cooke Sırma Göknur COMMEMORATION OF ATATÜRK In preparation for the Atat rk Memorial day our students created colorful posters using quotations by Atat rk. The aim of the activity was for the students to choose a quotation that they thought was appropriate for the remembrance of Atat rk and to use it to create a striking and memorable piece of art to display at school for the ceremony.
