I know now that a simile uses “like” or “as” to compare two things. We used the booklet when reading the short story “Science Friction”. The story was a little hard but I used the SHAMPOO booklet to help me understand it. Sera AKGERMAN The SHAMPOO Booklet Project was a lot of fun and I learned a lot from it. SHAMPOO stands for Simile, Hyperbole, Alliteration, Metaphor, Personification, Onomatopoeia and Oxymoron. The SHAMPOO Booklet helped us to understand figurative language and literary devices. My favorite part was doing the flipbook because we got to pick the colors for the pages to be used in the book and we made our own sentences. This has been my favorite Language Arts project and I am sure many of my friends thought the same. Bora YAVUZŞEN When I did the SHAMPOO booklet, I learned new words and figurative language. For example, I learned what an oxymoron and alliteration are. I used the booklet to help me understand some parts of the story “Science Friction.” I can also use it in the future to find figurative language in other books I read. Deniz SIRTI The SHAMPOO book and literary devices give us a different kind of vision of books and literary works. We looked at the words in a different way. I could use this booklet and the skills I learned about language when I am writing my own stories or creating my own works of literature. I might even use literary devices and SHAMPOO in my career someday if I become an artist. Ali BERKAY DOLUNAY We made the SHAMPOO booklets in class before we started reading the story “Science Friction.” We used them to learn about different literary devices: simile, hyperbole, alliteration, metaphor, personification, onomatopoeia, and oxymoron. We used SHAMPOO to help us read and understand the story and I could use it in the future to help me read other stories.
