S E V E C E N 2 0 2 0  191 POSEIDON& ATHENA Mina YORGANCILAR The story was about Athena and Poseidon choosing which one of them will rule a new village. First, they both found the same village at the same day. Afterwards, to decide who to rule, they gave the townspeople gifts and they would choose which gift they liked the best. At the end, the townspeople didn’t had to choose because Poseidon already choose his nice, Athena the winner. From this myth the Ancient Greeks learnt that we don’t have to fight if we can’t choose, there are other ways to choose the winner. Alpin CAN In the beginning of the story the townspeople wanted one god to take care and watch them. Afterwards Poseidon and Athena founded a village to take care of and watch but they couldn’t decided who will be the god of the village. In the end of the story Poseidon and Athena made a competition to decide who will be the god of the village. In the competition Poseidon gave the townspeople salt water and Athena gave them Olive trees so Athena became the god of the village. From this myth Ancient Greeks learned that why the small village rose to fame. GREEKMYTHS SUMMARIES In their Language Arts lessons, the grade 7 students have been reading a collection of Greek Myths from The McElderry Book of Greek Myths by Eric A. Kimmel. While reading the students have been busy working on mini- projects to show their understanding of the various myths. In the photos some examples of this work can be seen.
