192 S E V E C E N 2 0 2 0 HADES & PERSEPHONE Selin POSACIOĞLU The story was about the underworlds king Hades love about the beautiful Persephone. One day Aphrodite shot Hades with the Eros’s arrow. Then Hades saw Persephone picking flowers. He fell in love with her. He rode his horse to Persephone. When Persephone saw Hades with his horse she got scared and she started running. Hades was fast, he grabbed Persephone and he took her to the underworld. Afterwards Persephone’s mother Demeter, searched Persephone for days. Demeter cursed the world until she found Persephone. Demeter wanted help from Zeus. So a guy called Hermes helped Demeter to find Persephone but it was too late when Demeter found her daughter. Persephone was in love with Hades. They were married! Persephone was worried how could she satisfy her mom and her husband at the same time?! As a consequence Hermes solved the problem. He asked Persephone if she ate anything. Persephone said that she ate only 6 pomegranate seeds. So she had to stay 6 months with her husband, six months with her mom. This is how we have the seasons. When Persephone is with her husband Demeter curses the world and it shows fall and winter. When Persephone is with her mom everything starts growing this shows it is summer and spring. Naz GÜVEN The story was about Persephone and Hades. First, Eros shot Hades. Then Hades saw Persephone and fell in love with her. Then he kidnapped her and took her to the underground. After that Demeter start to look for Persephone , then she asked to Zeus and he took Demeter to the underground. In the end Demeter learned that Persephone ate four pomegranate seeds and she has to stay here for four months, when Persephone is not here Demeter will make everywhere cold and when she is here she will make everywhere hot and sunny. From this myth, the Ancient Greeks learned that why we have seasons.
