S E V E C E N 2 0 2 0  195 Lara ÖZBAL In our CE lessons we did many fun activities, my personal favorite one was the integrity slogan and the logo for aquaponics we did. Mr. Ward showed us videos about aquaponics and what it was. Then he challenged us in a fun way to find and make our own slogans. It was hard to do because we just started to learn the topic (aquaponics). Our group for the slogan searched and found out more about the topic while looking for words that rhyme (actually you don’t need a rhyme but it looks cool). For the logo, we worked hard to make a picture that symbolizes many different things in one image. For example, our school probably paid a lot of money for their logo but we did it in one lesson and for free. Me, I learned how to make logos and slogans which I may use in the future someday. I can also use aquaponics too, who knows. Maybe if I run a restaurant, I would grow my own fish and vegetables right there. It would be way more healthy and cheaper too. Nil ÖZTOP Before we started the activity I didn’t know what aquaponics was or meant. However, after we watched a video and talked about it I learned what aquaponics means and what the main idea of aquaponics is. Aquaponics is growing plants by growing fish and using their water to feed the plants while cleaning the water for the fish. After we all understood the basics with our groups we made something like a poster. On this we wrote a slogan and draw a logo that would show integrity in an aquaponics system. In my group we wrote our own slogan and draw our own custom logo. Writing a slogan was harder than drawing the logo because we had to think about something that is catchy and express our ideas clearly. Shawn Ward INTEGRITY IN YOUR OWN AQUAPONICS Students in their grade 7 Core English class worked to make connections between their understanding of integrity and aquaponics. They worked in groups to make their own logo & slogan with the hopes of showing integrity in aquaponics.
